comments of the week
The start of March celebrated International Women's Day. This day is used to acknowledge everything that women have achieved whilst also calling for equality. So, whether it's a family member, a celebrity, historical figure or mentor, we want to hear about the inspirational women in your life. Which women inspire you?
The woman I find inspiring is Serena Williams (the tennis player) because throughout all of her matches she has shown kindness and love to each person she competed against. Even though she is losing she puts her chin up and never gives up. When she loses, she does not let herself be a sore loser and always shakes her opponent's hand and says '' good game ''. In her matches, she always shows courage and confidence in every move she does and she helps people when they are hurt and always encourages other people to be kind just like her. Serena Williams is among millions of kind people. Also, another reason to support my opinion is that she shows love and kindness not just in her tennis matches, whether it is in streets or visiting children’s hospitals where there are many children that has many diseases and infections. But the main reason why I think Serena Williams is my inspirational person is because she is not just kind, she is kind to everyone whether they are black or white, has infections or not. But just everyone she is kind to.
Liam (Year 5)
I think my grandma is the most inspirational woman because she has worked in nursing for years and she was the first nurse to set up At Home Service where people who didn't need to be in hospital could be taken care of at home. She was even on the cover of the Nursing Standard magazine! I also know her personally. I love her because she is caring, loving and she cares for my friends too. I'd be happy to grow up just like her!
(Hana, Year 5)
