KS2 Homework
comments of the week

We had some great responses to our homework task!

Well done to Evangeline in Year 4 and Manhattan in Year 5 for your winning responses.

Do you agree with Wales potentially bringing in a tourism tax? Why or why not?

I think it’s a good thing because then it would help improve tourist attractions and places where people go. Some people may see it as a bad thing but a lot of attractions and hotels in Wales struggle because people visit more in the summer and they don’t get money in the winter so this extra money will help. The money could go towards introducing new ideas to make Wales an even better place to visit. I have been to Wales, and it was good fun but I think in the winter there is less money. In the summer if people pay the tax that can go towards supporting places in the winter. My mum and dad paid a tourist tax to help improve when we went to Hungary this year and it helped to make it better.

Evangeline (Year 4)

I disagree with Wales potentially bringing in tourism taxes. If that would happen most people would stop visiting Wales. I believe, if you went there on a holiday only, you should not even pay taxes because you would only be going there for a holiday and not to live there for a long time! If they lowered current taxes probably more people would want to go for visit or even for living there. This way the government would start getting a lot of money and quickly as more and more people would go there contrary to the possibility of making the taxes higher that would result in less visitors that would go to another countries for holiday. In my opinion the Welsh government will end up with no tourism or even less than what they have now should they decide to create tourist taxes.
